To ensure continuous professional training, the CAPC experts were on a study tour to Vilnius, Republic of Lithuania from 29 September to 6 October 2007. The study tour was organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania; the host party was Specialiuju Tyrimu Tarnyba (STT) – the Special Investigation Service of Lithuania, a specialized anticorruption authority, with competencies similar to the Moldovan CCECC.
During the visit, several meetings were organized with the CAPC experts and officials from the Republic of Lithuania. Thus, meetings were organized with the top management of the STT, the director of the Ethics Commission, the President of the Central Election Commission, advisers of the President of Lithuania, representatives of the Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Transparency International in Lithuania, etc.
During the meetings, discussions focused on issues related mostly to the methods and means of preventing and combating corruption, the impact of corruption on the economic and political development of the state, methods of solving conflicts of interests in the public sector. Also, STT organized for the CAPC experts a field trip to the territorial division of the STT in Klaipeda, where the STT employees communicated about the method of implementation of procedures for corruption prevention and combating in Lithuania.
Also, the CAPC experts shared with the STT employees their experience in the field of corruption proofing of draft regulatory acts.
